PENSION:

Dora Lipps has sent me a document from the National Archives related to Elihu G. Grinstead's request for a pension. It was signed by him April 26, 1915. He states that he was born October 2, 1838 in Lincoln Co., Kentucky, that he served in Company M, 8th Regiment, Kentucky Cavalry -- Vols., and that his post office at the time of enlistment was Liberty, Casey Co., Kentucky. He was married to Mary E. Henderson January 29, 1859 in Wayne Co., Kentucky by Thomas Copenhaver, and there is a record of the marriage in Monticello, Wayne Co., Kentucky. Neither he nor his wife has ever been married to anyone else, and he is now living with his wife amd they have never been separated. Their six children, either living or dead, and their birthdates are:

Arminius Grinstead -- July 22, 1861
