WGFA:

The William Grinstead Family in America (Gorrell Shumaker and John L. N. Grinstead, 1974):

pg 135: "Jasper Henry Grinstead (6/17/1805 - 10/20/1888) married 2/10/1825 Elizabeth "Betsy" Davis (7/25/1803 - 3/9/1886/7). Jasper was born in VA; married in Jennings County, IN; buried in Brush Creek Cemetery in Jennings County, IN. Nine children: James D., William Walton, Francis Marion, Milly, Richard T, Jesse Harrison, Salina Ann, Almiranda, and Mary Elizabeth."

COMMENT about WGFA:

Neither Milly nor Salina Ann are mentioned in the 1850 census, and there is no marriage record in Jennings Co. for either of them. WGFA gives specific birth dates for both (Milly: 16 Dec 1831; Salina Ann: "Salina Ann Grinstead b. 8/25/1837, died at early age."). Since there are no death dates, the birth dates are presumably not from tombstones. Where do they come from? Where do the names come from. We need one girl 5-10 in 1840. Milly fits the bill. We don't need Salina Ann. She might of course have died before the 1840 census, but note that her purported birth date comflicts with that of Jesse H. I am going to assume that she existed. Either 1835 or 1839 would be a reasonable birth year. I will go with 1839.

Jasper's wife Elizabeth was born in Kentucky according to the census. She may be a sister of Addison Davis, who married Jasper's youngest sister Milly.
