The William Grinstead Family in America(Gorrell Shumaker and John L. N. Grinstead, April 1974):

pg 12: "Mildred (Milly) Grinstead married Ezekiel Smith 12-21-1811. No further data."

COMMENT:

WGFA believes that this Mildred is a daughter of John Grinstead (1718-1791). According to his will written in 1791 John Grinstead did have a daughter Mildred.

The marriage records of Louisa Co., Virginia indicate that on February 18, 1811 Ezekiel Smith married Mildred Grinstead, under 21 years of age. Hence she was born in 1790 or later. This Mildred Grinstead is much too young to be a child of the John Grinstead who was born in 1718. It is possible to trace Ezekiel Smith in the census. In 1820 he is in Barren Co., Kentucky, in 1830 in Warren Co. close to Bartholomew and Thomas Grinstead, in 1840 in Warren Co., and in 1850 and in 1860 in Polk Co., Missouri where his wife Mildred is 54 and 68 years old respectively. So she was born 1792--1796.

David Grinstead and Nancy Ann Warren are plausible parents for Mildred. They were married in Louisa Co. in 1793. If Mildred had been born in 1795, she would have been 16 when she married in 1811. David is still in Louisa Co. in 1811. 1795 is a bit of tight squeeze between 1794 for her older sister Lucy and 1796 for her younger brother Bartholonew, but none of these dates are firm. They are all conjectural.

We have no evidence about when John's daughter Mildred was born or what happened to her.
