Roy Grinstead of 935 North Van Dyke street dropped dead about 7:30 a.m. today in his grocery store at the corner of Kine and Van Dyke streets.
Although he complained of dizziness, Mr. Grinstead who had been under a doctor's care for high blood pressure, went to work at 6 a.m. today as usual.
He collapsed about an hour and a half later, and a Moran ambulance was called. Taken to St. Mary's hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. He was 49 years old.
Mr Grinstead was born March 6, 1890, in Decatur, a son of James W. and Elvira Whitsett Grinstead. He was married to Miss Rolla Mae Goodale in 1912. He worked several years for the A.E. Staley Mfg. Co. and for 10 years was a representative of the Jewel Tea Co. He had operated his present store nine years.
Besides his wife, Mr. Grinstead leaves one daughter, Miss Dorothy Grinstead at home; his mother, Mrs. Elvira Grinstead; and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Clem of Decatur.
He as a member of the Macon County Grocers association and of the Moern Woodmen of America. With the exception of one and a half years spent in Springfield, he had lived all his life in Decatur.
