CENSUS:

In 1850 Matthew Hinds (42, Ky, laborer) is living in Wayne Co., Kentucky in the household of his brother Archibald.

In 1870 Mathew Hinds (62, Ky) is living in Adams Co., Illinois in the household of his nephew Washington H. Wade.

It appears that he never married. He is not findable in the census in 1830, 1840, nor in 1860. He is on the Wayne Co. tax roll sporadically up to 1840 -- in 1828, 1830, and in 1836. He was in Wayne Co. in 1859 when he sold his inherited interest in the "home place" to John S. Wray, while retaining his inherited interest in two other tracts. All of this suggests to me that he was a wanderer and probably a ne'er-do-well.
