In 1880 Samuel A. Hinkle is living in Hardin Co., Tennessee in the household of his cousin Riley Patterson. I cannot find his mother Mary Hinkle.

In 1900 Mary N. Hinkle (70, Jan 1830, Tn Tn Tn) is living in Hardin Co., Tennessee with her youngest son Samuel A. Hinkle, his wife, and 4 children.

MARY'S FIRST HUSBAND:

On November 6, 1848 William Arendell was appointed administrator of the estate of Erasmus Arendell, and commissioners were appointed to lay off a year's support for the his widow. On November 3, 1851 Baltis Hinkle was appointed guardian for the heirs of Erasmus Arundell, and on the same day he was specifically appointed guardian for Jane Arundell. More than 2 years later on February 6, 1854, he was again appointed guardian for Jane Arundell, who is described as "minor of Erasmus Arundell". At some point Baltis married Erasmus Arundell's widow, Mary N. McDaniel. Since their first child was born about 1854, it seems reasonable to assume that they married in about 1853.
