From 1883 onward they were involved in various transactions in Ellis Co.

On May 15, 1883 Jesse Baltis bought from S. M. Butcher (his brother-in-law) et al 20 acres in the Samuel Clark headright (bk 36, pg 465, bk 37 pg 593) in Ellis Co. The Samuel Clark 154 acre survey adjoins the line between Ellis Co. and Dallas Co. and also adjoins the survey in Dallas Co. in which part of his father's land was located.
