691 Joseph Hinkle born May 10, 1778 Rowan County, North Carolina; married October 18, 1802 (October 14, 1802 also given, probably date of marriage bond) in Rowan County to Sarah Wilson. Nine (9) children unidentified.

Joseph Hinkle was included in the 1810 Census of Rowan County with wife, one son, three daughters and six slaves. Children under ten years of age. He moved to Lincoln County, Tennessee with his family shortly prior to 1820 as did his father Benjamin with second wife and younger children. Joseph was included in the 1820 Census in Lincoln County with his wife, three sons and six daughters. (See also The Moravian Church Records, Volume III, page 1276).
