McCurdy Pioneers of North America by Clyde W. McCurdy, page 81:

The Appleby genealogy tells us that James McCurdy was married to William Appleby's daughter Grace, who was called "Grissy". This seems to be confirmed in William Appleby's will, which refers to his daughter, "Grissy McCurdy". There is some contradiction about the age of Grace Appleby, because her name does not appear on the Big Spring Church records with William Appleby's family. Grace may have been only a year younger than her sister Elizabeth, who was born in 1770, according to her gravestone. Elizabeth's age was given as 14 on the Big Spring Church records, but should have been 17. This would be correct if the lists were made in 1787. If Grace was born circa 1771, she could have married James McCurdy by 1787-1788.

SECOND HUSBAND:

John Calvert married to Mary McCurdy was a brother-in-law of Grace Appleby married to Mary's brother James McCurdy. Some people claim that John Calvert married Grace in Pope Co., Illinois after the deaths of Mary and James.
