From 1826 through 1829 Ambrose Hitt is in the Culpeper Co. Land Tax Lists as the owner of 23 acres inherited from his father. The entry in the 1830 list is "Ambrose Hitt's Estate". Hence he must have died in about 1830.

In the "War of 1812 Service Records" database on ancestry.com there is an Ambrose Hitt who was a private in Ballowe's 2nd Regiment of Virginia Militia.
