Pages 271-73 of Newton Co., Mississippi Will Book 1 deal with the estate of D. W. Hitt. His will was written April 25, 1891. The executors are Mary E. Hitt and James W. Phillips. On October 12, 1906 they state that D. W. Hitt died September 9, 1906.

CIVIL WAR:

The "Roster of Conferedate Soldiers" has two listings for D. W. Hitt: 6th Mississippi Infantry, Co. K, Corporal and 14th Mississippi Infantry (cons.), Co. B, Corporal.
