On December 11, 1819 John Hitt of Edgefield District sold to Joseph Price of the same place for $425 a tract of 100 acres being part of lands orginally granted to Burks lying on Beddingfield Creek of Savannah River adjacent to lands of Peter Hitt, William Price and Enoch Breazeal. Witnesses: James Tomkins, Robt. Cunningham. (37/247) John Hitt had purchased this tract from his father 18 months earlier.
On July 18, 1823 John Hitt of Edgefield District sold to Francis Tomkins of the same place for $1425 a tract of 230 acres on both sides of Beddingfield Creek of Savannah River adjacent to lands of Stephen Tomkins, James Hagwood's old survey, Landon Tucker, Samuel Tomkins, Edward Collier. Witnesses: John Blackwell, Elbert Wells. On November 8, 1823 John's wife Catharine Hitt relinquished her dower rights. (40/240) John Hitt had purchased this tract from his father one year earlier.
