She is not in the Slave Schedule. In 1860 Geo. H. Hitt (17, farm laborer, Va) is living in Fauquier Co. in the household of Wm. W. Berryman (25, farmer). His surname is clearly 'Hitt', not 'Hill'. In 1860 Jas. Hitt (24, miller, Culpeper,Va) is living in Culpeper Co. in the household of Daniel Ryan (73, carpenter). His surname is clearly 'Hitt'.

BIRTH YEAR:

The youngest child of John Hitt and Frances Holtzclaw was born about 1808. It is thus unlikely that John P. R. Hitt was born any earlier than 1810. John P. R.'s child Nancy Jane was born about 1834 according to the 1850 census. It is probable that her father was a least 20 when she was born and thus he was born no later than 1814.
