ABRAHAM HOLLINGSWORTH (Robert, Abraham, George, Abraham, Thomas, Valentine.) Of Laurens Co., S. C. Son of Robert and Jennie Hamilton Hollingsworth. Born November 30, 1792. Died January 9, 1873. Buried Liberty Springs Church, Laurens Co., S. C. First married January 9, 1817, to Elizabeth Hitt. Born September 3, 1801, and died September 11, 1826. He then married, November 4, 1828, Fannie Hitt, a cousin, who was born February 13, 1799 and who died December 9, 1864.

I. Maryan -- Born May 30, 1818. Married Richard Owens.
II. Henry -- Born Feburary 17, 1820. Died September 23, 1826.
III. Elizabeth -- Born April 28, 1822. Married Aaron Wells.
IV. Susannah -- Born December 25, 1823. Married David Whiteford.
V. John R. -- Born January 24, 1826. Died August 28, 1828.
Issue 2nd Marriage:
VI. Robert -- Born October 22, 1829. Died October 2, 1838.
VII. Sallie -- Born September 23, 1831. Married, in 1867, to James Hefferman. Lived at Ninety Six, S. C.
VIII. Abraham -- Born December 19, 1833. Killed at the Battle of South Mountain, Md., September 4, 1862. Never married. In S. C. Batallion, Company B, Confederate Army.
IX. John -- Born September 25, 1835. First married Carrie Goodman. Issue: 5 children. Died April 11, 1907 at Cross Hill, S. C. In 3rd S. C. Regiment, Company F. Then married Sallie Cook Coleman. Issue: 2 children.
X. Frances -- Born December 1, 1837. First married Col. Tandy Walker, Veteran of 2 wars. Issue: Robert Walker. She then married M. L. Bullock, who died in 1916. She died in Laurens Co., S. C., November ......, 1917.
XI. Robert T. -- Born April 18, 1841. First married Ada Jones. Issue: 5 children. He then married Mary Dennis. Living in 1917, near Cross Hill, S. C. Issue: 5 children. Robert had the family Bible in his possession, in 1917. In Confederate Army, 3rd S. C. Battalion, Co. B.

Abraham Hollingworth's two wives were second cousins.
MILITARY SERVICE:
According to Confederate State Roster -- South Carolina, Vol. II (Unit Roster), Robert Hitt, Peter Hitt, Patrick Hitt, and Henry L. Hitt were in Inf. 3rd Bn. Co. B along with Abraham Hollingsworth, Robert T. Hollingsworth, Isaac G. Lowe, and other men from Laurens District.

3rd Infantry Battalion [also called Lauren's Battalion and James' Battalion] was organized in November, 1861, at Camp Hampton, near Columbia, South Carolina. It contained four companies, with three additional companies joining the unit at White Point. Most of the men were from Laurens County, and a few were recruited in Richland and Fairfield counties. The Battalion was reorganized in April 1862.
