GUARDIAN:

In June 1853 the Orphans' Court of Sumter Co. appointed Berry Jarman to be the guardian of his grandchildren Josephine and Asa Hitt after the death of their uncle and previous guardian Austin Hitt. In April 1855 he obtained a final settlement from the court prior to taking his wards and their property to Smith Co., Texas. See notes under Henry J. Hitt for details.
