Mary Elizabeth Reese's husband, David Jefferson Lee, died 28 Dec 1895 according to her application for Confederate Widow Benefits made in 1900. She returned to the Oktibbeha area from Collin County, TX around 1897 with her son William Benjamin Lee, his wife, Arminta, their 3 daughters, Mary, Tula and Ella and the Jackson children, William R. and Mary E. whose parents (Sarah Ella Lee and William Thomas Jackson) had both died by that time.

Mary Elizabeth Reese Lee died 02 May 1903 in Oktibbeha, MS and was buried in Sand Creek Cemetery. Her son, William Benjamin Lee was dead by 22 Feb 1904 and was also buried in the same cemetery.
