LAND:

On November 22, 1771 Abraham Lockett of Chesterfield Co. sells to Charles Lockett of the same place for £157 a tract in Chesterfield Co. of 157 acres, more or less. It begins at a corner on the western side of Mierey Branch on the edge of Dry Creek Swamp. The meanders of Dry Creek are one on the boundaries. It adjoins property of Jesse Russell, Baugh and Peter Farmer. (Chesterfield Co. Deed Records 6/454)

On November 22, 1771 Abraham Lockett of Chesterfield Co. sells to Peter Farmer of the same place for £93 a tract of 93 acres by estimation in Chesterfield Co. adjoining the plantation that Abraham now lives upon and being part of the tract thereto belonging. It begins at a black oak on the western side of Mierey Branch on the edge of Dry Creek Swamp, thence along a new line dividing Peter Farmer and Charles Lockett . . . thence up the meanders of Dry Creek to William Lockett's line. It adjoins lands of John Farmer and Baugh. (7/18)

The 250 acres sold by Abraham on November 22, 1771 is presumably all or part of the land that his father gave to his wife Jane during her lifetime and which after her death was to go to his son Abraham.

CHILDHOOD:

SOUTHERN KITH AND KIN, pg 32: Benjamin Lockett was guardian of his brother Abraham in 1764.

BIRTH YEAR:

Abraham was not of age when his father wrote his will in 1756. We can deduce that he was born after 1735.
