SUMMARY:

Three years after he married, Francis's father gave him a large plantation of 433 acres in Chesterfield Co. Five years later in 1791 Francis bought an additional 135.5 acres. Then from 1793 to 1798 he sold 4 tracts containing 188.5 acres in all, and in 1798 he mortgaged the plantation on which he lived (363.5 acres) to secure a debt of £150. He probably paid that debt because in December 1802 he mortgaged a 280 tract on which he lived to secure a debt of £82.
