PROBATE:

In response to an order of the Janaury 1842 term of the Wayne County Court, an inventory and appraisement of the estate of Lemuel Lockett was submitted to the court on January 13, 1842. The total value was $458.37. Margaret Lockett and Arch'd Woods, administrators, reported the results of a sale that took place on January 14, 1842. Margaret Lockett bought numerous items and William Lockett bought several. (Appraisals, Inventories 1839-1853, Vol. B, pgs 294-298 at familysearch.org)

LAND:

There is no entry for Lemuel Lockett in the grantee index of the deed records. In January 1850 his widow is living on a farm owned by his father and which he (the father) bequeaths to her upon his death. Presumably Lemuel never owned any land. However in 1839 he pays taxes on 150 acres on the Cumberland River worth $1000. He has 2 horses or mares worth $140 and 2 cattle worth $15.
