Bedford Co., Virginia Will Book 3, pg 85:

In the Name of God Amen I Mary Lockett being in a low State of helth but a sound mind I do hearby make my last Will and Testament but first give my Soul to God that gave it and my Body to return to the Dust from whence it was taken, till the Riserection of the same hoping he will receive the same. Item I give and bequeth to my beloved Daughter Rhoda Lockett and her Heirs one Sorrel Mare Coalt called flie also one Bed and furniture to her and her Heirs forever.

Item I give and bequeth to my grandson Richard Lockett the first Coalt thats raised from the Coalt that I gave to his Aunt Rhoda to him and his Heirs forever and I hearby do appoint Jeremiah Lockett and Rhoda Lockett Executors to this my last Will and Testament as Witness my hand and Seal this 17th day of April One Thousand Eight Hundred and four.

The will was exhibited to a court held for Bedford Co. on July 22, 1805 by Jeremiah Lockett and proved by the oath of Nancy Lockett. On September 23, 1805 the will was further proved by the oath of Benjamin Kanady, and Jeremiah Lockett was granted a certificate for obtaining a probate. Jeremiah Lockett and Thomas Logwood, his security, entered into and acknowledged their bond in the sum of $150.
