Notes
General:
BIRTH YEAR:

William Appleby is 35 and Nancy Appleby is 28 in the membership list of the Big Spring Presbyterian Church prepared about 1787-89. See notes under her father David McCurdy for details. If she was 28 in 1789, she was born in about 1761.

DEATH:

Find-a-Grave Memorial # 143368013 says that she died in 1829 in Jackson Co., Georgia but provides no evidence for that assertion. Two of her stepsons (James and William Appleby) were living in Jackson Co. at that time. She is not in their households in the 1820 census, and of course if she died in 1829, she would not be living with them in 1830.

BEDFORD CO., TENNESSEE:

On December 30, 1812 David Sanders of Bedford Co., Tennessee sells to Agness Appleby of Maury Co., Tennessee for $56.50 a tract of 45 acres in Bedford Co. in the Second District on the waters of Rock Creek on the south side of Duck River. Witnesses are Alen Leeper, James L. Ewing, and David Appleby. The deed was proved in open court by the oaths of Allen Leeper and David Appleby and certified for registration September 25, 1813. On December 30, 1818 Agness Appleby of Bedford Co. sells to David Appleby of the same county for $200 the same 45 acres. (M11, film # 476353, image 750/1474)

It may be that Agnes returned to Georgia after selling her land in Bedford Co., Tennessee.
