"Samuel G. McCurdy, the fourth son of John and Elizabeth was born in 1800. He was married 1822 to Nancy W. Hodge. Samuel and Nancy resided in Madison County, Georgia and raised their family there. . . . Samuel G. McCurdy died in 1863, less than a year after his son John A. was killed in the war. The annual returns of 1863 and 1864, on the estate of Samuel G. McCurdy, show that the estate was divided between five of his children. His sons John A., and Samuel D. are not mentioned."
