OBITUARY:
I have seen a facsmile copy of the following obituary. I do not know what newspaper it was in.
C. W. Parker passed away at 8 o'clock Wednesday morning June 26, 1912 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. P. Dennis after a long and severe illness caused by a complication of diseases and old age.
He was born in Spencer county, Kentucky, July 19, 1827, aged 84 years, 11 months and 7 days. He united with the Methodist church when quite young, of which he has always been an [sic] faithful and untiring member. His father and older brother were ministers of this church. He affiliated with the Masonic order in Sycamore, Ill. when a young man. He moved from that place to Liberty, Kans. in 1875.
He was united in marriage to Marinda Drake, March 15, 1849, in DeKalb county, Ill. Nine children were born to this union. Four have passed over, three daughters, two sons and their mother survive him. Mrs. L. P. Dennis, Altamont, Mrs. A. F. Johnson, Independence, Mrs. R. B. Forsythe, East Orange, New Jersey, M. P. Parker, Des Moines, Iowa and N. A. Parker of Liberty are the surviving children.
