Notes
General:
The following is on page 89 of an article by Douglas Richardson in The New England Historical and Genealogical Register (Vol 153 (1999), pgs 81-96). The article is entitled "THE ENGLISH ORIGIN AND ANCESTRY OF THE PARKER BROTHERS OF MASSACHUSETTS and of their Probable Aunt, Sarah Parker, Wife of Edward Converse".

JOHN PARKER was born probably between 1585 and 1590. He married, say 1614, Ann or Anna _______. They resided at Great Burstead, where six of their seven known children were baptized. John served as a witness in 1618, in the Essex Court of Quarter Sessions. John Parker and his wife, Ann, were both living in 1630, at the birth of their seventh child, Joshua. Their subsequent history is unknown.

MARRIAGE:

'John Parker' was a common name in Essex. In a footnote on page 89 Richardson cites a marriage between John Parker and Anne Sibley in 1613 in Romford, Essex. Romford is today a part of greater London and appears to be about 12 miles west of Great Burstead, as the crow flies. Since several Anne Parkers died in Romford in the period 1616-1628, it seems likely to Richardson that one of them was Anne Sibley and that the wife of the John Parker who lived in Great Burstead will have to be sought elsewhere.

Richardson was apparently not aware of another marriage relatively close to Great Burstead. On 9 May 1613 John Parker married Anne Bridge in Great Totham, Essex. Great Totham is about 3 miles north of Maldon and about 16 miles northeast of Great Burstead. Anne Bridge may or may not be the wife of the John Parker who lived in Great Burstead.
