PENSION APPLICATION:

The following is in Revolutionary War pension application W17670. The family record is in the form of a flyer on one sheet of paper printed by a commercial printer.

I Lemuel Cushman of Stafford in the County of Tolland and State of Connecticut aged 52 years testify that the family record hereto annexed was made by the Rev Clement Parker who is a minister of the gospel and settled in Acton in the State of Maine and the son of Lemuel Parker named on said record the said Lemuel Parker being the first husband of my mother Hannah Cushman who now applies for a pension for services rendered in the Revolutionary War by the said Lemuel Parker -- the said Clement made said Record from evidence collected by him as stated thereon in April 1832 The said Lem'l Parker died as I have always understood the 10th of June 1787

Samuel Parker
Was born in Newton, near Boston Mass. His parents were both killed by the Indians in king Philip's war, about the year 1675. When a young man he emigrated to Connecticut; was one of the first settlers of the town of Coventry, and was the first man who officiated as Deacon of the Church in that town. He lived respected and died at a very advanced age. His sons were Samuel, Phineas, James, John and Joseph, who were valuable members of society. All but Samuel, lived and died in Coventry.

John Parker, son of Dea. Samuel Parker, died Sept. 1798. He was from early life a professor of religion. Lemuel Parker, son of John Parker, died June 10, 1787. He was beloved in life and lamented in death. 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.' Lemuel Parker, jr. died June 11, 1788. Sarah, daughter of Clement and Rachel Parker, died July 23, 1828.
