David N. Reck enlisted at Lubbock, Texas February 7, 1941. He was killed in Europe in 1943.

The body of David N. Reck, 32, is being returned to Claude for final burial from an Italian cemetery.
Final services will be held 2:30 Wednesday in the First Baptist church, Claude, for Reck who was killed Nov. 18, 1943 at the Anzio beachhead in Italy. He was born in Claude April 21, 1911 and enlisted Feb. 7, 1940. He was a member of Company D. 142 Infantry Division and served as a French interpreter from the time he reached Northern Africa to the time of his death.
He was graduated from Claude high school in 1930 and worked in the Panhandle area. His parents both came from Bacarrat, France, and his father moved to Claude in 1893.
Survivors include Sam Reck, his twin brother of Phillips; Henry Reck, Borger and also brothers: Alfred, John, Frank, and Ray, of Claude. Reck's body will arrive in Claude Tuesday from Fort Worth and interment will be in the Claude cemetery Wednesday.

David Nichols Reck, a twin, was born 21 Apr 1911 in Claude, Armstrong Co., Texas.

Mother: Madeline Christine Reck, Claude, Texas, housewife, age 39, born in France
The name in this typewritten affidavit is clearly "David Nichols Reck". However, his name was almost certainly "Nicholas" (his grandfather's name) rather than "Nichols". "Nichols" was probably a mistake on the part of the clerk who typed the certificate. On 17 Sep 2024 his niece Lou Jeanne Reck Owen told me, without any prompting from me, that she thought his name was "Nicholas". A facsimile copy can be seen at
