Died Sunday.
Lucian L. Reese, father of J. B. Reese, passed away early Sunday morning at the ripe old age of 91 years, 11 months and 2 days. Mr. Reese would have reached the 92 year mark had he lived until May 1st. Death was due to the descrpencies[sic] of old age. Mr. Reese had been in ill health for a number of years, but had been confined to his room only two weeks prior to his death.
Lucian L. Reese was born in Jasper county, Georgia, May 1, 1830. In 1858 he was married to Miss Elizabeth McKissick, and to this union were born 3 boys and 2 girls, four of whom survive. Mr. and Mrs. Reese came to Texas in 1873, settling at Kossee, where they resided until the death of Mrs. Reese, after which Mr. Reese came to Kerens and had since made his home with his son, J. B. Reese. He had resided here the greater part of fiteen[sic] years.
The remains were carried to Kosse Sunday afternoon, where interment was made in Kosse cemetery. The funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church in that city by Rev. W. A. Corkern, pastor of the Kerens Baptist church, and Rev. Moon, pastor of the Kosse Methodist church. The burial services were conducted by the Kosse Masonic Lodge, of which Mr. Reese was a member.
Those surviving are: J. B. Reese of Kerens, Miss A. V. Reese of Kerens, M. A. Reese of Mineral Wells, I. L. Reese of Lott.
