General:
In the 1870 census Hubbard N. Reese is in the census twice -- as Herbert Reese in McLennan Co. and as H. W. Reese in Hill Co. The family probably did not move; they lived in Hill Co. on the boundary between Hill Co. and McLennan Co. In 1870 in McLennan Co. Virginia Reese is 9 years old in the household of Herbert Reese. In Hill Co. she is not present. She may be a daughter of Hubbard N. Reese and Eunice Hitt, but I believe that it is more likely that she is a daughter of Hubbard's younger brother John L. Reese. In 1860 he is in the household of his father with his wife and 10-month old daughter Verginna E. P. Reece. I cannot find John L. Reese or his wife in the 1870 census. I believe that they are dead and that Virginia is an orphan.
