William Rees of Putnam Co., Georgia signed his will September 15, 1825.

Beloved wife Elennor Rees is treated in the usual way.

Daughters Amelia Porter, Betsey Hudson, and Mazey D. Park previously received certain property, and in the will they are given something more.

Thaddeus B. Rees, John Rees, Abraham F. Rees, Nancy W. Hightower, and Polly A. Pruitt previously received certain property, and they now receive no further specific bequest.

Josiah B. Rees, Eliza G. Rees, Epsey B. Rees, and William Rees have not previously received anything, and in the will they receive a specific bequest. It is mentioned that Eliza, Epsey, and William are not yet of age.

The bequest to daughter Leathy B. Lawson is much more complicated than that of the other children.

A codicil to the will was signed November 24, 1825 and was witnessed by Andrew Park, John Basten, Vinson R. Porter, and Dan'l Hightower.

On December 19, 1825 the will was produced in open court by Thad. B. Rees and was proved by the oaths of James W. Taylor, John Basten, and Andrew Park.

In name of god amen I William Rees of This place bring of Sound mind and memory Knowing the uncertainty of life do make this My last Will and Testament in the manner and form following

First - I give to xxxMy beloved wife Elennor Rees Two of my best Negroes which two She thinks proper to choose except those given away in this Will to my Children. I also give her my best horse with her Sadle & Bridle her Carriage and with bed bedstid and furniture & Two of my best - cows & calves ten head of hogs and one half of all my house hold and Kitchen furniture to do what She pleases with the same Negroes and all.
I also Give my beloved Wife during her life for her and my children that is not married to support upon During her life and for the support of the above children untill they marry or quit the plantation the plantation I am now living on with part of the Tract of Land I bought from Alexander McDonald which lays on the same side of the crick Say Twenty or thirty acres. With one fourth part of my plantation Tools Gear &c and provision to Last her and them one year.

Item 2nd I Give my daughter Leathy B. Lawson Some time back one negrow boy named Jo and other property I now give my daughter Leathy B Lawsons Children the Tract of Land whereon David Lawson and family is living on together with every thing belonging to Said plantation unto the Said children there heiris &c. But is not to have possession of the Said Land nor receive any benefit that may arise of the said land so long as there Mother Leathy B Lawson thinks proper to keep in possession the said land or plantation but when ever my daughter Leathy B Lawson thinks proper to give up her clames to the above Land my Executors will Sell the Same and divide the money between her children. It is also my Will that if there should be any thing moore after making an Equal division agreeable to this will of the ballance of my property to be divided. My daughter Leathy B Lawson is not to have any moore of Said Estate in her own Rite but she may have the use of it let it consist in what may during her Life or as long as she thinks proper to keep the same in possession but is at liberty to give up the Land and other property or money to her children should there be any I allow my daughter Leathy B Lawsons children to an Equal Share in place of their Mother. But each of my other children except John Rees must receive three hundred dollars a piece before my daughter Leathys children can clame any part of my property Estate in there mothers name besides what is given to each child in this will.

Item 3rd I give my daughter Amelia Porter Some time back one Negro boy named Frank and other property I now give one negrow girl named Abbi

Item 4th I give my daughter Betsey Hudson some time back One Negrow boy named Nead and Sixty five dollars to pay for Land at popcastell and other property I now give her a negrow girl named Sarah.

Item 5th I give my son Thaddeus B Rees some time back Four hundred dollars in cash Since then I gave him Four hundred dollars in Webbs Land & other property

Item 6th I gave my son John Rees Some time back Four hundred dollars in cash and other property Since then I give him apart of the money I paid to John Abercrombie for him

Item 7th I give my son Abraham F Rees Some time back Seven hundred Eighty eight dollars 43 3/4 cents.

Item 8th I give my daughter Nancy W. Hightower Some time back one Negrow girl named Mary and other property Since then I gave her a Negrow boy named Jesse.

Item 9th I gave my son Josiah B. Rees one negro boy named Woods his horse Saddle & bridle one Bedbedstid & Furniture and Two hundred dollars out of the first money that is raised from the proceeds of my Estate.

Item 10th I give my daughter Polly A Pruitt Some time back one Negrow boy named Silas and other property Since I gave her a Negrow girl named Mariah.

Item 11th I gave my daughter Mazey D. Park Some time back one Negrow girl named Ritter and other property I now Give her a negrow boy named Jasin

Item 12th I give my daughter Eliza G. Rees one negrow boy named Issac one bedbedstid and furniture and two hundred dollars in cash.

Item 13th I give my daughter Epsey B. Rees one negrow Girl named Jude one bedbedsted and furniture and Two hundred dollars in cash.

Item 14th I give my son William Rees one Negrow boy named Charles one bedbedstid and furniture and Two hundred in cash.

All the ballance of my property not named in this will my Executors will Take charge of it and manage it in way they may think will be the most advantage to my heirs and after all my debts is paid It is my will the ballance shall be Equally divided if any Should be left after complying with the Intention and meaning this will between all of my Children my daughter Leathy B Lawson and my son John Rees asbefore mentioned but Leathys Children is to draw in place of their Mother asbefore stated It is also my will that my Son Abraham F Rees has the liberty of drawing an equal Share of my estate as before stated but should he think proper to relinquish his own Interest in said Estate my Executors will pay the amount that would be coming to him over to his child or children Equally among him or them that is his Child or children as the case may be. It is also my will that at my wifes death the Plantation &c left for her support shall be sold and if Elisa Epsey or William should Loose there negrow before they or either of them comes of age my Executors shall make the same good to them or ether of them as the case may be out of the sail of said Land then the ballance to be Equally divided between all of my children except Leathy B Lawson as before stated and my son John Rees who is not to receive any moore of my Estate untill Each and Every one of my other children except Leathy B. Lawson Receives fifteen Hundred dollars besides what is given to Each of them in this will Leathys children will draw in place of there Mother on the same tearms as before state in there mothers place.

Lastly I appointed my friend & neighbor John White my Son Thaddeus B Rees & Josiah B Rees Executors to this my last will and Testament as witness my hand and Seal this 15th day of September 1825
