Ltc Joel W. Ridgell, 7th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry, USA. Enlisted August 7, 1861, age 41 at Camp Dick Robinson, Kentucky. Mustered in and commissioned lieutenant colonel on September 22, 1861. Resigned and mustered out January 23, 1863 at Young's Point, Louisiana. Occupation before the war: Methodist minister.
