BURKS, MARY JOYCE ROBERTSON After a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, our dear loving wife and mom, was greeted into heaven on April 3, 2007, after spending her last days in this life at Baylor Hospital surrounded by family. She was a generous loving Christian wife, mother, and friend to all who knew her. Mary was born in Long Beach, CA on August 9, 1926, to John Nelson and Mary Emma (King) Robertson. She grew up in San Antonio, TX, attended Texas A & I College and worked as an elementary teacher in the Corpus Christi area before marrying Ralph, the love of her life, in 1954. Due to her husbands career in the oil industry, she lived in many countries including Holland, Great Britain, and Nigeria where she dedicated herself as a homemaker. During the past 37 years in Dallas, she was an active member of the Petroleum Womans Club of Dallas, holding many leadership positions. She was also a member of Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church in Richardson, Texas, where she served as a Deacon and was active on many other committees. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ralph Davis Burks; her two sons Stephen Allan Burks and Samuel Cullen Burks, both of Dallas; her two daughters and their spouses, Mary Margaret Hursin and Danny Lee Hursin of Dallas and Kathryn Kay Cross and John Cross of Los Altos, CA; and her Aunt Virgie Parsons of Uhland, TX. The visitation will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2007, beginning at 6:00 PM at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home near McKinney, TX, Highway 75 and Exit 38 Ridgeview Drive. A private burial will be held at Hall Cemetery near Howe, Texas. The memorial service will be on Monday, April 9, 2007, at 2:00 PM at Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church, 3901 North Star Road, Richardson, TX 75082.
