Previously to 1709 he lived at Northampton.

John Lee b. in 1621, came to this country from Ipswich, Eng., in Ship Francis, the last of April, 1634, when but 13 years of age, under the care of Mr. William Westwood. This gentleman settled at Newtown (Cambridge) Mass., whence he soon went to Hartford, Ct., in the company that settled that place, and was a prominent man there in the early years of that town. He and Dea. Stephen Hart lived side by side. Next we find Stephen Hart among the first settlers of Farmington, and soon afterwards, John Lee, also made freeman in it. In 1658, John Lee married Mary Hart, daughter of Dea. Stephen Hart. They united with the church July 15, 1660, under the care of Rev. Roger Newton. At his death in 1689, his estate was appraised at £359, lawful money. He was 68 years old. His children were:
i. John Lee b. June 11, 1659.

In removing to Northampton, in consequence of this marriage, she took her two youngest children, David and Tabitha to that place with her. She d. Oct. 10, 1700, by the fall off a horse (as already described under account of the family of Jedediah Strong, p. 770), aged 70. As to the family of Dea. Stephen Hart (deacon in the church of Rev. Thomas Hooker of Hartford) the author has not been able to gather very specific details. The records at Farmington back of 1682, are very imperfect and some of the earlier records were destroyed by fire. Dea. Stephen Hart d. in 1683. His son Stephen, Jr., d. about 1689.
