27-8. xiv. Sarah Strong (dau. of Elder John Strong and Abigail Ford) b in 1656, m. Dec. 19, 1675, Joseph Barnard of Hadley, and afterwards of Deerfield, Mass. (son of Francis Barnard, an early settler of Hartford, Ct., "a viewer of chimneys and ladders there in 1646." He removed to Hadley in 1659. He was the ancestor of many clergymen." His wife's name was Hannah). He resided in Northampton. He d. from wounds received from Indians, Sept. 6, 1695. She m. Sept. 23, 1698, as his 2d wife Capt. Jonathan Wells, for a second husband. He was son of Thomas and Mary Wells, of Hadley, Mass., and resided in Deerfield, Mass., where he d. Jan. 3, 1739. She d. Feb. 10, 1733.
