In 1820 and in 1830 there is a census entry for Elizabeth Walter, but they don't seem plausible. From 1819 through 1822 there are three widows named Elizabeth Walters in the Philadephia city directory. Note that Isaac Walter appears in city directories both as Walter and Walters.

Much additional information about Isaac Walter's parents and siblings can be found in the book by Thomas Ustick Walter published in 1871 and entitled "Genealogical Sketches and Investigations Relating to Ancestry and Family Connections". It can be seen online at

Isaac Walter was the third child and second son of Frederick Jacob Walter and Jane McCluskey. He was born 25 Mar 1778 in Philadelphia and died 3 Apr 1820 in Savannah, Georgia (pg 8 of 76). Frederick Jacob Walter had arrived in Philadelphia in about 1750 as a 6 year old orphan, his parents having died at sea on the voyage from Germany. Isaac's older brother Jacob Frederick Walter had 15 children, the fifth of whom was Isaac. He was born in Philadelphia December 29, 1802. Since the older Isaac Walter died in Savannah, Georgia in 1820, the city directory entries from 1828 to 1835 must correspond to the younger Isaac. The three entries from 1820 to 1822 at 70 Plum Street could correspond to either one. Since the mother-in-law of the older Isaac lived at that address, they probably correspond to him. If he died in 1820, he wasn't there in 1821 and in 1822, but sometimes city directories just copied information from a preceding year without verifying it.
According to Thomas Ustick Walter, Isaac Walter was a bricklayer by trade and at one time did a very extensive business. The children of Isaac Walter and Elizabeth Walton were:
16. i. HARRIET WALTER, b. June 15, 1800.
ii. SAMUEL WALTER, b. 1802; d. 1802.
iii. ABRAHAM WALTER II, b. 1803; d. 1803.
17. iv. ELIZABETH WALTER, b. March 15, 1805.
18. v. SARAH WALTER, b. May 15, 1807.
19. vi. MARTHA SAUNDERS WALTER, b. June 10, 1809, Philadelphia,
vii. ISAAC WALTER III, b. August 05, 1812, Philadelphia, ; d. September 05, 1812.
viii. REBECCA WALTER, b. August 05, 1812; d. September 05, 1812.
20. ix. JANE WALTER, b. September 30, 1813, Philadelphia.
Only 5 lived into adulthood. More information about them can be found at entries 16 through 20, including whom they married and when.
