CENSUS:

In 1940 Florence Dailey (46, Tx, D, saleslady/dry goods store) is a lodger with many, many other people in the Salvation Army Hotel in San Diego, California (sheet 85B, 11 Apr 1940). Some are guests and some are lodgers. According to the census she was living in the same house April 1, 1935. Next to her entry is that of her sister Claudia Grissom (lodger, 48, Tx, Wd). Claudia is said to be 'New Worker', but 'New Worker' is marked out. Claudia's entry indicates that she too was living in the same house April 1, 1935, but in fact she wasn't.
