The following is from Byberry Waltons (Norman Walton Swayne, 1958), pg 35:
54 NATHANIEL WALTON (4), died 9.3.1784, supposed son of 17 Caleb Walton, apparently was not married. His death is from Isaac Comly's obituary notes. The History of Byberry and Moreland states 8 Nathaniel son of 2 Nathaniel died in Moreland back of Edge Hill in 1784 aged about 80. However, it seems certain 8 Nathaniel would have been older than that in 1784, but 54 Nathaniel not so old. The most definite information comes from the will of Nathaniel of Mooreland, yeoman, drawn Feb. 6, 1777, proved in Phila. Sep. 22, 1784, which named no wife nor child, but brother Henry, sisters Mary Yerkes, Rebecca Randall, Ann Boutcher and Priscilla, who was deceased, cousins Rebecca Yerkes and Esther Elton, niece Rachel Boutcher wife of Joseph Boutcher, and Nathaniel Boutcher their son. Uncle Thomas Walton was recently deceased and Nathaniel as eldest son of Thomas' eldest brother, expected to inherit Thomas' 130 acres in Mooreland. Isaac Comly's obituary notes say Thomas Walton Sr of Horsham died 1.31.1777 aged 84 and Priscilla Walton 2.2.1777. The History of Byberry and Moreland says Priscilla was buried 2nd mo 4th 1777, died of smallpox. Since Nathaniel made his will just two days later it may be inferred these two deaths and the smallpox hurried him, and that he recovered from smallpox or perhaps escaped it. Nathaniel's plantation in Moreland Twp, whereon he then dwelt, was willed to Nathanl Boutcher son of Joseph Boutcher & wife Rachel after he becomes 21, but if he die sooner, then to niece Rachel Boutcher wife of said Joseph Boutcher and daughter of sister Priscilla dec'd. Exrs Joseph Boutcher & Stephen Yerkes were to sell within two years after decease as much of the upper part of Uncle Thomas' 130 acres next Garret Booskirk and Jonathan Clayton as will raise 140 pounds over what is needed to pay Uncle Thomas' debts, the 140 pounds to go in equal shares to brother Henry Walton, sisters Mary Yerkes, Rececca Randall, Ann Boutcher, cousins Rebecca Yerkes, Esther Elton and niece Rachel Boutcher wife of Joseph Boutcher. Witnesses were Garret Wynkoop, Cornelious Wynkoop and John Watts, of whom the first two proved the will. Since Rachel Walton married Oct. 19, 1771 Joseph Boucher, from records of First Presbyterian Church of Phila., there seems to be some doubt whether her mother Priscilla was Nathaniel's sister or his sister in law. If the former, evidently she had married a Walton or more likely was not married. Nathaniel is on tax lists of Mannor of Moorland 1769 no property. The two listed just before him are Thomas Walton and John Eastburn and the two just after are Elizabeth Titas and Francis Titas. In 1774 Nathaniel had 30 acres 2 horses 1 cattle tax 6.6.4, 1779 est'e & p, h'd d. tax 5.5.0, 1780 valuation 5050 tax 126.5.0, 1782 valuation 706 tax 4.8.3, 1783, 140 acres 1 horse. Records of Southampton Baptist Church, Bucks Co., Pa., say Jan. 1, 1782 three pounds due from Nathaniel Walton to be collected, apparently for building the Meeting House. No Phila. deed has been found by which any of Nathaniel's land was conveyed by Nathaniel Boutcher or Joseph Boutcher or Stephen Yerkes. It is possible Rachel Boucher sold it or willed it, perhaps under another surname. However, the above Nathaniel Boutcher apparently reached 21, for in 1806 one of that name, who after 1786 married Martha Roberts, was party to a deed for the land of her father William Roberts, which lay on both sides of the Phila.-Montgomery line.
