General:
The names of the children of Wiley D. and Elizabeth C. Brown and the fact that they are living near Martin Collins Brown in 1860 motivate the idea that one or the other of them is a child of Hezekiah Brown (Abt 1777 ---) or is at least related to him. Hezekiah Brown was never in Illinois. Young people usually travel with their parnts. Hezekiah's son Jesse Brown came to Gallatin Co., Illinois sometimes before the 1840 census. In 1840 Jesse has a daughter 15-20 who could be Elizabeth. Jesse does not have a son who could be Wiley. Elizabeth is probably a daughter of Jesse, and Wiley is probably a son of Thomas Brown, who is also in the 1840 census in Gallatin Co. Both Thomas and Jesse are in Bear Creek Precinct and are separated by only one entry in the census. They may or may not be related in some way. 'Brown' is a very common name.
