CITY DIRECTORIES:

John Coates is in Philadelphia city directories as a printer from 1828 until 1850. I have not looked for him after 1850. He is at a variety of addresses: at first on Almond St. in Southwark, from 1830 until 1844 in the vicinity of the corner of Second St. and South St./Cedar St., and from 1845 onward at 416 High St. In 1844 he is living at 159 Catharine as is his brother-in-law, David Etter. Another brother-in-law, John Christopher, previously lived at that address.
