In the name of God Amen I Cornelius Deforrest of the City of Williamsburg and County of York, being of perfect sense and memory & knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, Do make and ordain this to be my Last will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say, first I give and recommend my soul to the hands of Almighty God, who gave it, not doubting but I shall receive the same at the General day of Resurrection, as for my Body at my Death to be buried in a Christianlike & decent manner at the discretion of my Executors, and as for such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life, I give, Devise and dispose as follows
Item I do give and bequeath to my younges child Cornelius a sufficient maintainance out of my Estate and also a negro woman named Bettey to wait on him during his life and if she die before my said Son, then to be allowed another negro Slave to answer for the same purpis and to be ordered as my wife Sarah shall think proper, Item I give and bequeath To Daughter Betty Suskit Deforrest two negroes vizt Jack and Easter his wife and there incris forever, Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Louisa Deforrest two negroes vizt Genack and Mollie, one the late property of Thomas Midcalf and Molley the late property of Cornelius L__in of whom I bought her to her and her Heirs forever, Item I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Sarah all the remaining part of my Estate Rail and Personal to dispose of as she may think proper after giving to my Daughter Elisabett Williams ten Pounds in money witness my hand and Seal this 16th day of January 1780
