WILL:
There are two versions of the will of Levi Hinds in the will records of Wayne Co., Kentucky. One is on pages 53-54 in Book B (FamilySeach.org, "Vols. A-C 1801-1971", film #1943577, image 650/1854), and the other is on page 18 in Book A (FamilySearch.org, "Vols. A-C 1801-1971", film #1943577, image 144/1854).
The testator in Book B is "Levi Hinds Sen". The will states that he is "late of Knox County and State of Tennessee", and it lists his sons as Joseph, Levi, and John and his daughters as Rutha Pierce, Sarah Hinds, Rhoda Gist, and Hannah Graham, deceased. Her children are named. They are Manasha, Sarah, Levina [?], and Charaty. The executors are "beloved sons Joseph and Levi Hinds and my friend Eli Scaggs of Knox County Tennessee". The executors are instructed to sell all of his property, both real and personal, including his land in Knox Co., Tennessee, and to divide the proceeds equally among his children, the children of Hannah to receive their mother's part. If any legatee chooses to keep some of the property, that property must be valued by two disinterested persons. The witnesses are Walter Emberson and Rutha Hinds.
In Book A the testator is "Levi Hinds Jr". Saml Newell, Jr. is an additional witness, and 'Rutha' is 'Rhoda (her x mark) Hinds'. The children of Hannah are Manasha, Sarah, Levina, and Charity.
Both wills are dated 28 Aug 1817, and after the will in Book A is a statement that it was proven at the January court in 1818 by the oaths of Samuel Newel, Jr. and Rhoda Hinds.
