Elizabeth was named an heir in the will of her uncle, Nimrod Hitt, probated in Culpeper County on 19 September 1825. Elizabeth was the ward of Asa Hume after her father died and until she married. Asa was the bondsman for Elizabeth's marriage. Asa Hume, born about 1784, died 19 August 1831; he never married.
