LAND:
On May 11, 1802 a tract of 346 acres in Edgefield District between Stephens's Creek and Savannah River was surveyed for Samuel Crafton. On the southeast it adjoins land of Martin Hitt.
On December 15, 1803 Sarah Hitt conveys to her son Martin Hitt for love and goodwill the following: 1) the land whereon he now lives under the condition that if he sells the land half of the proceeds shall be at her disposal, 2) possession of the land on which she lives, 3) immediate possession of Negroes Molley, Pompy, Moses, Lewis and Harry and 4) at her decease possession of Charles, Cate, Cloe and Frank with their increase. On October 3, 1808 Martin Hitt of Edgefield District sells to Robert Ware, Junr of the smae place for $105 a tract of 21 acres between Stephens Creek and Savannah River, being part of a tract originally granted to Moses Lucas. The tract is described by metes and bounds. The witnesses are Robert Lang, Burrell Rees, and John Swillevan. Lucy Hitt, wife of Martin Hitt, relinquishes her dower rights. (29/355, image 471/560)
On October 3, 1808 John Hitt and Sarah (her + mark) Hitt relinquish all their right and claim to the 21 acres sold the same day by Martin Hitt. It is the land whereon they now live and is bounded by Ozias Morgan, Harrison Monday, Martin Hitt, and Robert Carson. (29/354, image 471/560)
