General:
Two children were born to Elijah and Martha Howe in Shutesbury, Franklin Co., Massachusetts. Lucy Howe was born 28 Sep 1778 and Jonathan Howe was born 21 Sep 1781. Shutesbury is 15 miles or so north of Belchertown. The Shutesbury parents may or may not be the same as the Belchertown parents.
"Historical Sketch of the Congregational Church in Belchertown, Mass." (Hon. Mark Doolittle, 1852; available on books.google.com) states the following on page 105. Note that Estes Howe, not Elijah Howe, died in 1826.

Elijah Howe, brother of Col. Samuel Howe, and uncle to Dr. Estes Howe, who died in this town, March 1826, age 79.
Elijah married for his first wife, Philothela Warner, sister of (41). She died 1771, age 28.
He again married Martha Parker in 1773. See (170).
