The following will was proved in York Co., Pennsylvania on May 16, 1771 by the oaths of the three witnesses, and letters testamentary were granted to Dorothea Elizabeth Keiffer, the executrix. Five children, apart from his youngest child Peter, are in the sequence "Catharina Anna Margaret, Dorothea, John, and Anna Maria". There is no comma between 'Catharina' and 'Anna'. Presumably Catharina and Anna Margaret are the first two children in the list.

I Peter Keiffer, of York Town, being sick and weak in Body, but yet of sound Mind and Memory, thanks be unto God, do Constitute this my Last Will and Testament and Desire it to be Received by all as such, Imprimis I most humbly bequeath my Soul to God who gave it and my Body to be buried in a Christian, and Decent like Manner, and as touching Such Worldly Estate wherewith it had pleased God to bless me with, I give devise and Bequeath in the following Manner, Item, I do Order, and it is my Will that all my Just Debts and funeral Charges be first paid and Satisfied Item, I give devise and Bequeath unto my Dearly Beloved Wife Dorothea Elizabeth her Heirs and Assigns forever the house and Lot of Ground which is Situate on the West Side of Water Street, in the Town of York, and known on the General Plan of said Town by the N^o Adjoining on the South to a Lot of Ground of Balser Hess on the West by Codorus Creek, on the North to a Lot of Ground of Herman Updegraff and on the East to Water Street aforesaid, Containing in Breadth on Said Street fifty seven feet, and an half, being the Same whereon I now Live, together with all my household furniture and Personal Estate, Out of which my said Wife is to pay unto my Son Peter or his Guardian the Sum of Ten pounds Lawful Money of Pennsylvania at the Arival of the Age of fourteen Years, and if my said Son Peter Should die before the Age of twenty one Years I will and I do Order the aforesaid Sum of ten pounds, to him herebefore bequeathed to be Equally divided amongst my five Children, Catharina Anna Margaret, Dorothea, John, and Anna Maria Share and Share Alike, and Lastly, I hereby Nominate and Appoint my Said Wife to be Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament, hereby Revoking all former Wills by me heretofore made, In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand, and Seal, this first day of May in the Year of our Lord, One thousand seven hundred and Twenty one
