"Departed this life on the 5th day of July at her residence in Green Co. Ala., sister Jane Hitt, daughter of John and Elleanor Meek, well known old fashioned Methodist in Laurens dist., S.C. married David Hitt 14 March 1803, moved to Tuscaloosa Co., Ala., in 1818, thence to Green Co., Ala. . . . left husband and children."
