Notes
General:
There are two Thomas McCurdys born in Arkansas, probably in Washington Co., in the early 1840s. One married Margaret Kifer and in the 1920 census was living in Coal Co., Oklahoma with one of his daughters. He died in 1927. The other one lived in Hopkins Co., Texas for a while and then moved to Indian Territory. In the 1920 census he was living with two of his sons (2 census entries, one with Andy and one with Charles) in Pontotoc Co., Oklahoma. He died before 1930.

These Thomas McCurdys are second cousins and are sons of William King McCurdy (1817-1877) and David E. McCurdy, who went to California to participate in the Gold Rush and apparently never returned. But which son corresponds to which father? The presence in Hopkins Co. of another son of David E. McCurdy is the principal evidence.

The Thomas McCurdy who married Margaret Kifer was a son of William King McCurdy (1817-1877). The Thomas McCurdy who lived in Hopkins Co., Texas was a son of David E. McCurdy.
