Notes
General:
On September 22, 1768 a tract of 73 acres was laid out for William Rees situated in Craven Co. on the High Hills of Santee. On the southwest it bounded on land "granted unto Wm. Rees" and on land "belonging to Charles Rees". The plat shows that "Land belonging to Wm. Rees" is adjacent to "Land belonging to Charles Rees". A deed in 1772 from William Rees to Edwin Rees implies that William previously sold 100 acres out of a 300-acre tract to Charles Rees. No land in South Carolina was granted to Charles Rees or to his father Roger Rees.
The "Land belonging to William Rees" is probably a part of the 300 acres granted/patented to him in 1762 but laid out to Roger Rees in 1756 with a notation "ord. b_ 6th April 1762, for William Rees". It is the part that remained after he sold 100 acres to Charles.
There is a really well-written profile for Charles Reese in WikiTree (Reese-5936).
