SWAYNE:
The following, slightly reformatted to improve readability, is from Byberry Waltons (Norman Walton Swayne, 1958), pgs 73-74:
145 BOAZ WALTON (5), born about 1774, died Nov. 10 or 12, 1853, son of 51 Samuel Walton & Elizabeth Willis of Phila., married Dec. 12, 1799 Sarah Hatfield, born about 1777, died Jan. 3, 1858. The marriage is from the American Daily and General Advertiser, which calls him Boaze. Their deaths are from the Phila. Board of Health, which says Nov. 10, 1853 Boaz Walton, Climatic decay, 77 yr, Dr. F. Scoffin, Friends, Fair Hill; Jan. 3, 1858 Sarah Walton, Old age, 82 yr, Dr. W. D. Stroud, Friends, Fair Hill. The Phila. Public Ledger says Boaz died Nov. 12, 1853 in his 77th year, late residence 334 S. Front, Sarah died as above in her 82nd year, funeral from Widows Asylum, Cherry St. between 17th and 18th, burial in Friends ground at Fair Hill. The great grandfather of Boaz, 2 Nathaniel, separated from Friends, and it is probable hardly any of his descendants went back with them.
From 1802 to 1843 Phila. directories list Boaz as cabinet maker, in most years at 328 or 330 South Front St. Walton & Bowen were at the former address in 1802, 1803 and 1804, while Samuel, and later Samuel's widow, were nearby on Spruce St. In 1823 and 1824, when Boaz was missing from the directory, Benjamin Walton, cabinet maker, was at NW cor Front & Meade al, which was the address of Boaz in 1839, 1840 and 1843. While Boaz did have a brother Benjamin who died young, this probably was a directory error, and if so, no evidence of children of Boaz & Sarah has been found.
