FAMILY BIBLE

Charles W. Young's Bible is now in the possession of Frances Bogy, San Antonio, Texas, widow of Louis T. Bogy. The following is from an e-mail which she sent me June 16, 2008:

I have Charles W. Young's Bible and it reads:

"Charles Young was born May the 5 day 1813
Leevina Hylton born May the 22 day 1815 (she really spelled her name Lavinia and they called her Vinnie- she was Charles' wife.)
Phebe Young was born June the 5 day 1835
Benjamine H. Young was born February the 27 day 1837 (he spelled his name as Benjamin)
Anna Young was born September the 9 day 1839
Nancy Young was born July the 6 day 1842
Jinneta Young was born August the 11 day 1844
John B. Young was born January the 27 day 1847 (another writer had written the B in at a later date so it probably was the John M. you mentioned)
Leah Young was born February the 9 day 1849
Sarah Young was born October the 27 day 1851
Elizabeth Young was born in July the first 1854
James B. H. Young was born December the 5th dy 1856
William David Young was born August the 16 day 1859 (I note you called him Davis and I know that somewhere a death certificate had Davis on it but it was definitely David and he was called Dave. He was Louis' grandfather. He could not read or write so he would not have known the difference if any legal document was made out to a Davis though certainly not his death certificate. Several of his grandchildren were named David after him.)

On a different page was written:
Nancy Young was married July the 3 day 1866
Jinneta Young was married August the 7 day 1866
Charles Eller Rice was born the 6 of September 1867
Joseph Rice deceased October the 2 da 1867

Permela Young was born February the 14 day 1859
on same page: Permela Daniels born Feb the 14 1859

Phebie Young was married December the 24 1863
Benjamin Young was maried August the 10"

Both Lavinia Hylton and Charles Young were born in Floyd County, Kentucky and they were married there. (Charles' father was also named Charles and the family was originally from Virginia). Charles and Lavinia moved first to Hill County, Texas and in the 1870's moved to Anderson County and that is where Ada Lecey was born. I believe they moved back to Hill County and Charles died in Hill County. William David, his widowed mother, and Ada Lecey moved to Wise County in 1886 and that is where they died. Levinia is buried in the East Side Cemetery in Bridgeport, as is William David and Ada Lecey and all three of their daughters.
