CAROLINE CO. LAND TAX LIST:

Land tax records are available from 1782 onward. The first list of proprietors is for 1787 and prior to then only transactions are available. In 1803 Pleasant Carnal inherits 80 acres from his father's estate, and from 1804 to 1815 he has 80 acres. In 1816 24 acres are transferred to his brother Richmond and from 1817 to 1824 he has 56 acres. I have not seen any records subsequent to 1824. Pleasant's land is said to be bounded by Thomas Hackett and to be 13 miles west of the courthouse.

CAROLINE CO. PERSONAL TAX LIST:

Personal tax records are available from 1783 onward. Pleasant Carnal is in the Caroline Co. Personal Tax List from 1788 to 1826. I have not seen the list for after 1826. In 1788 he is a white male tithable over 16. He is presumably the white male 16-21 in the entries of his father Moses Carnal from 1784 to 1787. If he became 16 in 1784 he was born about 1768. He often has 1 slave over 12, sometimes 2 and sometimes none. He most commonly has 2 horses but sometimes 1 and occasionally none.
